Garden Pottery
Garden pottery options range from pots to trays to sculptural
decorations. Many different sizes are available to suit many different
applications. Specific items may fall under the categories of earthenware
or stoneware.
Earthenware forms of garden pottery are among the oldest. Terra cotta
is probably the most popular form. Items created from this material
is very porous. It generally requires a glaze in order to be waterproof.
Stoneware garden pottery options are stronger, tougher, and less porous
than earthenware. It is also fired at much higher levels. In basic terms,
it is manmade stone. It is generally either vitreous or semi-vitreous.
In terms of pottery, vitreous means glassy and impervious to water.
